Getting An Early Start On Your Gardening Needs

Gardening supplies can be simple or elaborate, expensive or inexpensive and may be for industrial or suitable for residential. Local garden stores will sell smaller tools needed to dig soil and plant or transplant seeds or to spread mulch on the garden. Mulching refers to the material that can be placed on the ground to prevent water from evaporating too quickly and helps to prevent weeds from overtaking the garden.

Aside form tools, the garden center will also sell the seeds, plants, watering cans, hoses, garden gloves, trellis, plastic for a greenhouse, and a variety of containers. For more advanced gardeners, artificial lighting systems may also be purchased from local specialty stores. These systems can be used to extend a growing season, allowing a gardener to get a head start by planting before the outside weather is warm enough.

For those individuals who are not located near a local garden store, there are many mail and online ordering sources which sell plants, seeds and other gardening supplies. Be sure to check mid- to late winter for catalogs to start planning for the upcoming season.
